Tom Duncan received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and from 1972-2006 he practiced with Hill, Evans, Duncan, Jordan and Beatty, a general practice firm in Greensboro, North Carolina. Until 2003 he specialized in business litigation, professional negligence, personal injury and workers compensation and since that time he has devoted his practice entirely to mediation. He opened his own mediation practice in 2006.
Mr. Duncan received his mediation training at the Duke Private Adjudication Center and also completed the Harvard Negotiation Project at Harvard Law School. He has lectured on alternative dispute resolution at various continuing education programs and has mediated some 4,000 cases. He is listed in Best Lawyers in America and North Carolina Super LawyersÂ in the area of alternative dispute resolution.

Effective 2021 - $250.00 per hour for mediation services ($350.00 per hour for professional negligence, eminent domain, construction litigation, business litigation, estate litigation, wrongful death and catastrophic injury); $300.00 per hour for all arbitration services; 2.5 hour minimum for 1/2 day, and 5.0 hour minimum for all day; $250.00 per hour for travel outside of Greensboro. $250.00 administrative fee is charged in every case, even if it is not mediated or arbitrated. This fee covers the cost of opening and closing the file, processing the designation and reporting the result to the Court or Industrial Commission.
A cancellation fee will be charged if mediation or arbitration is cancelled, as follows:
Cancellation or postponement within 30 days of scheduled mediation or arbitration: 1/2 day cancellation fee - $250; full day cancellation fee - $350. Cancellation or postponement within 10 days of scheduled mediation or arbitration: 1/2 day cancellation fee - $350; full day cancellation fee - $500.
