Biographical

Mr. Smith is an experienced trial attorney who has practiced in state and federal court since 1975. Earlier in his legal career, he served as a Military Judge while on active duty with the U.S. Marine Corps. His practice for the past approximately thirty-four years has been concentrated in civil litigation, in which he represents plaintiffs and defendants, and he is transitioning to full time mediation and arbitration practice.  Mr. Smith has been a Certified Superior Court Mediator since 1996, and a Certified Family Financial Mediator since 2004, and he has mediated over 1300 cases since his initial certification. Mr. Smith also is selected frequently to serve as an arbitrator for UM/UIM and construction-related claims. His vast experience of more than forty-five years as a trial counsel, judge, arbitrator and mediator provides him with a unique perspective for all sides of a lawsuit, which enables him to be particularly effective in mediations, as well as in other ADR settings.
