Biographical

Scott was a Deputy Commissioner with the North Carolina Industrial Commission for ten years. Since 1999, he has devoted his professional career to a full time mediation practice.

Scott has also been selected by his peers to be included in Best Lawyers in America, in the specialty of Alternative Dispute Resolution, from 2008 through 2023. Scott also has a Tier One ranking in the 2010, and the 2015 through 2023 editions of the US News - Best Lawyers "Best Law Firms" rankings. Because no fee or purchase is required, being listed in Best Lawyers is considered a singular honor. Scott also has a listing in Super Lawyers, for Alternative Dispute Resolution for 2022 and 2023.

Scott has mediated well over a thousand cases, primarily in the area of Workers' Compensation. Scott has been a speaker, and a member of panel discussions, at N.C.Bar Association seminars, the N.C. Advocates for Justice and N.C. Industrial Commission seminars.

Scott is also a Fellow of The College of Workers' Compensation Lawyers. Election as a Fellow represents the recognition by his colleagues that Scott has distinguished himself as an outstanding professional who has made a sustained contribution to the field of Workers' Compensation, and that he meets the College's standards of integrity, professionalism and character.

In 2020, Scott became a member of the Board of Directors of the ACLU-NC, and the ACLU Legal Committee. In 2022, Scott became the Chair of the ACLU- NC Legal Committee.
