Biographical Notes:
 N. C. Superior Court Judge, 1981-2005. Cases mediated include medical and legal malpractice, premises liability/slip and fall, personal injury, wrongful death, FELA, residential alteration/renovation and construction, alienation of affections/criminal conversation, employment (retaliatory discharge), nursing home liability, commercial landlord/tenant, rent abatement, unfair and deceptive trade practices, debt collection/wrongful credit reporting, conversion, sale of businesses, breach of residential retirement contract, fraud in sale of health insurance policy, public records, and negligent lending, Have mediated (including several pre-suit mediations), for Superior Courts in 20 Piedmont and Western N. C. counties and the U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
Held court state-wide, engaged in pretrial settlement conferences and trials (jury and non-jury) in full panoply of civil cases including medical, dental, and legal malpractice, premises liability/slip and fall, personal injury, wrongful death, FELA (railroad EE injury), alienation of affections, shopping center construction, residential construction, contracts, major business disputes (Rice v Parks), "vanishing premium" insurance policies, product liability, undue influence, caveat, boundary, partition of real property, and unfair trade practices.
Certified by North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission as a Superior Court Mediator in 1998. Involved with judicial district administration of program for Mediated Settlement Conferences from inception of program in North Carolina. Practice began April 2005

RATES & PAYMENT INFORMATION |
Rates: Administrative Fee $150.00; Hourly fee for conference to impasse or finalization of Memorandum of Mediated Settlement $175.00 ($150.00 in Rockingham County). No charge for travel in central N. C. within 100 miles (one way) of Reidsville. No charge for travel to Asheville area or Southern Pines area. Other travel subject to negotiation. Multi-day mediation- actual hotel and meals.

Payment: Payment is expected upon completion of the settlement conference, unless prior arrangements for payment have been made.

Cancellation Policy: Administrative fee only if personally notified (through my cellphone 336-613-0260) of actual settlement 48 hours before scheduled conference. Otherwise, if postponded or cancelled without good cause (as defined in Rule 7) less than 14 days before conference $150.00, except $250 if posponed without good cause within 7 calendar days.
