Biographical Notes:
I began practicing in 1977 in Raleigh with a firm whose emphasis was insurance defense and corporate law. My practice was primarily insurance defense, insurance law and Plaintiffs' workers' compensation cases.
We moved to Lexington in 1984 where I my practice became even more concentrated in workers' compensation, personal injury and contract/consumer civil litigation. I have handled a large number of cases in states other than North Carolina.
Certified and trained to mediate cases in state trial courts, the Industrial Commission and matters before the Clerks of Court, I have mediated hundreds of cases over the last 13 years. My practice now is primarily focused in mediation and arbitration.
I have had extensive experience in insurance law, personal injury, workers' compensation and matters before the Clerk. Our out-of-state cases have been in Alabama, California, Florida, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee, Texas and Washington, D.C.
I have extensive personal experience with elder law matters, including guardianship, with conflicts arising out of estate/probate matters and with family business issues. Mediation has proven a uniquely important and effective tool in resolving matters of this type because they usually involve parties with longstanding personal relationships.
