PROFESSIONAL INFORMATION

Biographical Notes:

Marshall Gallop is originally from Elizabeth City, North Carolina; and was educated at Duke University from 1963-1971 where he was awarded the degrees of BS, MS and Ph.D in electrical engineering. During his five year active duty tour as an officer with the USAF he was stationed in the Boston area where he attended Suffolk University Law School at night, graduating in three and one-half years with a JD, magna cum laude. Before finishing his tour of duty, he was awarded an LLM in taxation from Boston University School of Law. Upon returning to North Carolina in February of 1977, Marshall joined Battle, Winslow, Scott & Wiley, P.A. where he has practiced continuously since and is now senior partner and President. Marshall's background was primarily in civil litigation and insurance coverage for about 20 years, but he began to serve as a mediator and arbitrator in the mid to late '90's while serving on the Supreme Court's Dispute Resolution Committee and being substantially involved in drafting the Rules governing Superior Court Mediation. Since mid 2005, he has practiced primarily in the area of health care law in addition to his continuing his ADR practice.
