PROFESSIONAL INFORMATION

Biographical Notes:

From August of 1969 through March of 1998, I practiced civil law with the firm of Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, PLLC, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I was a member/partner of the firm from 1975 through March of 1998. Although my practice focused on general corporate, partnership and insurance law with a special emphasis on securities law matters and mergers and acquisitions, I have litigation experience in both state and federal court, as well, ranging from prosecuting collection actions to defending the first federal securities class action in the U. S. Middle District Court. I have an AV rating with Martindale-Hubbell.

Since April of 1998, I have been a solo practitioner, an independent business consultant, an arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), formerly the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. (NASD), and a mediator. My law practice is primarily corporate representation of small businesses. As a business consultant, I have provided strategic advice to growing businesses. As an arbitrator, I have served on approximately 100 panels in matters dealing with a wide range of issues and claims, serving as chair of the panel in most of those matters. I serve as a co-trainer with FINRA staff personnel for FINRA arbitrator training courses. I am certified as a mediator in the North Carolina Mediation Conference and with FINRA.
